(Glasgow Herald 15th April 1915) "Lance-Corporal John McLean, H.L.I., who resided at 7 Drumfrochar Road, Greenock, was killed in action at Neuve Chapelle on March 13. He was a Special Reservist, and was called up at the beginning of the war. He was aged 23 years and was married."
