DCM and Military Medal

During the capture of Behagnies on the 25th August 1918 he volunteered with 2 others to silence a hostile machine gun which was harassing the advance. Later at a place called Hermies he displayed great gallantry in locating enemy posts by patrolling behind their lines 11-12th September 1918
